Collision repair in Dallas
Tejas Paint & Body repairs cars after accidents in Dallas, Texas. Collision repair means fixing the structure, the body panels and the paint, so your car looks right and drives right again. We talk to your insurance adjuster and handle the paperwork with you. Our shop is at 615 Fort Worth Ave in Oak Cliff, and our family has repaired cars here since 1981.
What is collision repair?
Collision repair is the work that brings a car back after an accident. It covers more than dents and scratches. A hit can bend the structure under the body, shift panels out of line and crack the paint. A complete repair deals with all three. The structure comes first, then the panels, then the paint.
Some people call this body work, and others call it auto body repair. The idea is the same. The goal is a car that fits together the way it did before, with paint that matches from one panel to the next.
What’s included
Structure & panels: We repair or replace damaged panels and check the structure underneath.
Paint & finish: Color-matched paint so the repair disappears into the rest of your car.
Damage documentation: We document the damage so your estimate and your claim show what the car needs.
Insurance claim: We work with your adjuster from estimate to final repair.
Final inspection: Before any car leaves the shop, we check the work under our hexagonal LED inspection lights.
How it works
1. Send photos: Text or upload a few photos of the damage. No visit needed to get started.
2. We call your insurer: We talk to the adjuster and handle the paperwork with you.
3. Repair + updates: We fix your car and keep you posted until it’s ready.
4. Pick up: Drive away with a repair backed by our Limited Lifetime Warranty.
What should I do right after an accident?
Safety comes first. Move to a safe place if you can, and call 911 if anyone is hurt. Then collect the information you will need later. These steps help most drivers:
Take photos: Photograph the damage from several angles, the other vehicle, the license plates and the road.
Exchange information: Get names, phone numbers and insurance details from the other drivers.
Keep your paperwork: Save any police report number, claim number and adjuster contact details.
Call us when you are ready: Send the photos to (214) 698-0369 and we will tell you what the repair involves.
What photos should I send for an estimate?
You do not need a visit to start. Take a few photos from different angles. Add one from a few steps back, so we can see the whole area and how the panels line up. Close-up photos of cracks, creases and paint damage help too.
You can text the photos to (214) 698-0369 or upload them through the estimate form on this site. We review them and tell you what we see. For some damage, we may ask to see the car in person before we confirm the final repair.
How does structural repair work?
Under the outer panels, a car has a structure that holds everything in place. In a collision, that structure can bend even when the outside damage looks small. If it stays bent, doors can close poorly, gaps between panels can look uneven and the car can feel different on the road.
That is why we check the structure underneath, not just the panels you can see. The repair plan follows what the damage requires. We explain it to you in plain words and answer your questions before the work starts.
What kinds of collision damage do you repair?
We repair damage from fender benders to major impacts. That includes front and rear hits, side impacts, parking-lot collisions and damage from other vehicles. Each one can involve structure, panels and paint, in different amounts.
A small parking-lot hit may need one panel repaired and painted. A larger impact may involve several panels, the structure underneath and the paint work that ties it all together. Either way, we look at the damage first and explain the repair in plain words.
Should my panels be repaired or replaced?
It depends on the damage. A panel with a dent or a crease can often be reshaped and refinished. A panel that is torn, stretched too far or cracked through is usually better replaced. The same goes for damage that reaches the mounting points.
We look at each panel and explain which option fits. You get the estimate before any work begins. If you want to see how we handle one common panel, read our page on fender repair.
How do you match the paint?
A collision repair is not finished until the paint matches. Our technicians are PPG Certified, and we match your car’s original color and finish. The new paint is blended into the doors, fenders and bumper next to the repair.
Color can look different in shade, in sunlight and under shop lights. Before any car leaves, we check the finish under our hexagonal LED inspection lights. They show color differences, uneven texture and small flaws that are easy to miss in normal light. We fix what we find before you pick up the keys. For more on this work, see our auto painting page.
Can hidden damage show up during the repair?
It can. Some damage sits behind a bumper cover or under a panel and only shows once the area is opened up. This is common in collision repair, and it is not unique to any one shop.
When the repair plan changes, we talk with your adjuster, because they have to approve what the claim covers. We also keep you posted until your car is ready, so you always know where the repair stands.
How long does collision repair take?
The honest answer is that it depends. The size of the damage matters most. A small repair is quick, and a repair with structural work takes longer. Parts availability and your insurer’s approval also affect the schedule.
We do not promise a number of days before we see the damage. We tell you what we see, and we keep you posted while the work moves along.
How much does collision repair cost?
The cost depends on which panels are damaged, whether they can be repaired or need replacement, how much paint work the repair needs and whether the structure is involved. Two cars with similar dents can need very different repairs.
The estimate is free*. Send photos or stop by the shop. If insurance is paying, your policy decides your deductible, which is the part of the repair you pay yourself. A written estimate lets you compare the repair cost with your deductible before you decide how to move forward.
Your insurance, your choice
Texas law lets you choose your repair shop (Texas Insurance Code §1952.302). Your insurer can’t require you to use a specific shop. Pick the one you trust and we’ll work with them.
We work with the major insurance companies, including Progressive, State Farm, Allstate, GEICO, USAA and Gainsco. We talk to the adjuster, send what they need and handle the paperwork with you. If you want to learn how that works, visit our insurance claims page.
Related work on your car
A collision often involves more than one repair. Depending on the accident, your car may also need:
Bumper work: Cracked or loose bumpers are repaired or replaced. See bumper repair.
Dent repair: Dings and creases are fixed and refinished. See dent repair.
Glass: If the windshield was damaged in the same accident, we coordinate the glass work with the rest of the repair. See windshield repair.
Sensor calibration: Cars with driver assistance features may need their cameras and sensors checked after a repair. See ADAS calibration.
What should I ask any body shop before I choose?
A few questions help you compare shops, and we are happy to answer all of them:
Is the estimate in writing? We give you the estimate before any work begins.
Will you handle my insurance? Yes. We talk to your adjuster and handle the paperwork with you.
How do you check the paint? We check the finish under our hexagonal LED inspection lights before delivery.
What does the warranty cover? Our written Limited Lifetime Warranty covers our workmanship for as long as you own the car.

What does the warranty cover?
Every repair includes our written Limited Lifetime Warranty on our workmanship for as long as you own the car. If something is not right with a repair we did, bring it back and we will make it right. Ask us about the warranty details with your estimate, before any work begins.
