Limited Lifetime Warranty on Collision Repair and Paint in Dallas

Limited Lifetime Warranty seal

Tejas Paint & Body Shop backs every repair with a written Limited Lifetime Warranty on our workmanship and paint, for as long as you own the vehicle. It is a limited lifetime warranty on auto body work in Dallas: if a repair we did fails because of how we did it, we fix it at no cost to you.

In plain terms, the warranty covers the repairs listed on your final repair order. It does not cover new damage, normal wear or anything we did not work on. We put the terms in writing so you know exactly what you are getting before you drive away.

We are a family-owned body shop at 615 Fort Worth Ave, on the north edge of Oak Cliff, near West Dallas. We have been on this same street since 1981. That is the main reason we stand behind our work. When your name has been on the building for decades, you fix things right the first time, and you pick up the phone when a customer needs you.

This page explains what the warranty covers, what it does not cover and how to make a claim. You will also find answers to the questions Dallas drivers ask us most.

What our Limited Lifetime Warranty covers

Our collision repair warranty in Dallas covers defects in the workmanship and paint on the repairs we perform. The covered work is whatever is listed on your final repair order. If it is on that paperwork and it fails because of how we did the job, it is covered for as long as you own the car.

Paint and refinish work

Paint is the part of a repair people notice first, so our auto paint warranty is clear about it. We cover paint problems caused by our refinish work, including:

  • Peeling or flaking paint on the panels we painted.

  • Cracking or bubbling in the finish.

  • Fading that comes from our materials or our process.

  • Color mismatch between a panel we refinished and the rest of the car.

Body work and panel repair

The warranty also covers the body work we do. That includes:

  • Panels that do not fit or line up correctly after our repair.

  • Uneven gaps around doors, hoods, fenders or bumpers caused by our work.

  • A dent repair, bumper repair or panel repair that fails because of our workmanship.

For example, if a bumper we installed starts to sit crooked because of how we mounted it, that is covered. If the clear coat on a door we refinished starts to peel, that is covered too. You can learn more about the work itself on our Collision Repair and Auto Painting pages. If you ever have a question about what is on your repair order, we will go over it with you line by line.

What the warranty does not cover

A warranty on workmanship is about our work, not about everything that can happen to a car on Dallas roads. We would rather be clear about the limits now than surprise you later. These things fall outside the Limited Lifetime Warranty:

  • New accidents, theft or vandalism. Damage from a new collision, a break-in or vandalism is a new repair, not a warranty issue. We are glad to help with it, and we can work with your insurance.

  • Normal wear and tear. Every car ages. Gradual wear from daily driving and time is not a defect in our work.

  • Stone chips, scratches and road debris. Small chips and scratches from gravel and debris happen on any highway. They are not caused by the repair.

  • Rust or corrosion unrelated to our repair. Rust that starts in an area we did not work on is not covered. The same goes for pre-existing damage that was not part of the repair.

  • Abuse, neglect or improper care. Harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaning or neglect can hurt any finish. Those problems are not caused by our workmanship.

  • Weather and environmental events. Hail, industrial fallout and similar events damage paint and panels on their own. That damage is not a workmanship defect.

  • Manufacturer parts and sublet work. Parts that carry their own manufacturer’s warranty are covered by that manufacturer. Sublet work listed on your repair order is also covered separately.

  • Work changed by another shop. If another shop later alters or repairs an area we fixed, we can no longer stand behind that area.

If you are not sure whether something is covered, call us. We will take a look and give you a straight answer.

How to make a warranty claim

Making a claim is simple. Most people only need a phone call and a short visit. Here is how it works:

  1. Call or stop by. Call (214) 698-0369 or visit us at 615 Fort Worth Ave, Dallas, TX 75208. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

  2. Bring your paperwork. Bring your repair order or the warranty document you received when you picked up your car. It shows which repairs we did and helps us check the work.

  3. Let us inspect the car. We look at the area you are concerned about and compare it with the work listed on your repair order. If you can, bring the car in clean so we can see the finish clearly.

  4. Get a straight answer. If the problem was caused by our repair work, we fix it at no cost to you. If it was caused by something else, we explain what we found and what your options are.

The remedy under the warranty is limited to correcting the defect in our work. That means we repair or redo the part of the job that failed. If you want to show us the problem first, you can email photos to tejaspaintandbody@hotmail.com before you come in.

Why a lifetime warranty matters after a collision

A collision is stressful. Once the car is fixed, you want to stop thinking about it. A written warranty from a body shop you can visit in person gives you that peace of mind.

It also helps protect the value of your car. When you sell or trade in a vehicle, buyers and dealers look closely at paint and panel fit. A repair that holds up keeps the car looking right, and your repair order shows the work was done by a shop that stands behind it.

Before any car leaves our shop, we check the repair under our hexagonal LED inspection lights. That bright, even light shows color differences, uneven texture, waves in a panel and small flaws that are easy to miss in normal light. We fix what we find before we hand you the keys.

That inspection is a big part of why we can offer a lifetime warranty with confidence. We would rather catch a problem on our side of the counter than have you find it in your driveway. If you want a body shop warranty in Oak Cliff from people you can actually talk to, this is it.

Warranty FAQ

Is the warranty transferable to a new owner?

No, the warranty is not transferable. It covers the original customer for as long as they own the vehicle. If you sell the car, the warranty ends with the sale.

How long does the warranty last?

It lasts for as long as you, the original customer, own the vehicle. It ends when the car is sold or transferred to someone else.

Does the warranty cover paint?

Yes. It covers peeling, flaking, cracking, bubbling, fading or color mismatch caused by our refinish work on the panels we painted. Chips, scratches and damage from outside causes are not covered.

Does the warranty cover hail damage?

No, new hail damage is not covered because it is a weather event, not a defect in our work. If we repaired hail damage on your car, the warranty does cover our workmanship on that repair. Hail is common in North Texas, so it helps to know this up front.

What if my car is in another accident?

Damage from a new accident is not covered by the warranty. If the new damage is in an area we repaired before, it is treated as a new repair. We can help you with the estimate and the insurance claim.

Do I need to keep my paperwork?

Yes, please keep your repair order or warranty document. It shows exactly which repairs we did, and those repairs are what the warranty covers. If you misplace it, call us before you come in.

Does using insurance change the warranty?

No, the warranty is the same whether you pay yourself or go through insurance. It covers the workmanship and paint on the repairs we performed and listed on your repair order. Your insurance company pays for the repair, but the warranty comes from us, the shop that did the work.

How long does a warranty inspection take to schedule?

Call us at (214) 698-0369 and we will set a time that works for you. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. You can also stop by the shop during business hours.

What if another shop repaired the same area later?

If another shop alters or repairs an area we fixed, the warranty no longer covers that area. We cannot stand behind work we did not do. The warranty still applies to the other repairs on your repair order.

Does the warranty cover parts?

It covers our workmanship in installing the parts listed on your repair order. Parts that come with their own manufacturer’s warranty are covered by that manufacturer. If a part fails because of how we installed it, that is covered by our warranty.
